Brocas de extensión para aeronáutica
Extra-long 1/4" HSS drill with a 135° point and black oxide finish, 6" long, for holes a standard jobber drill can't reach. Triumph, sold in a pack of 144.
Choosing an aircraft extension drill
Aircraft extension drills are long-series bits made to reach recessed or hard-to-access spots: behind flanges, through frames, into the corner of a fabricated part. The Triumph bit here is a 1/4" high-speed steel drill, 6" long, with a 135° point and a black oxide finish. It comes in a pack of 144, so it suits shops and maintenance crews that drill the same hole all day.
Drilling tips
A long drill flexes. Start the hole with a short drill or a center punch, then let the extension follow it. Run slower than you would with a standard-length bit, keep the drill square to the work, and back out often to clear chips. Use cutting fluid on steel. On aluminum, a little lubricant keeps chips from welding to the flutes.
Black oxide helps the bit hold lubricant and resists corrosion, so keep it dry and lightly oiled between jobs.

Common questions
What is an aircraft extension drill?
It is a long-series twist drill made to reach deep or recessed holes. The Triumph bit in this collection is 1/4" in diameter and 6" long. The product group is labelled for 6" and 12" lengths, but only the 1/4" x 6" bit is listed here at the moment.
How many come in a pack?
The 1/4" x 6" bit is sold as a pack of 144, which is a production quantity. If you only need a few holes, a standard-length drill from our high-speed steel range may be the better fit.
What will it drill?
It is HSS with a black oxide finish, a general-purpose combination for steel, aluminum and other non-hardened metals. Use moderate speed and cutting fluid. Hardened steel calls for a cobalt or carbide drill.
