Choosing a Quad Spear glass bit
Quad Spear glass bits from Tru-Cut cover a long size run: 3/16", 1/4", 5/16", 3/8", 1/2", 5/8", 3/4" and 1". The 5/8" and 3/4" bits have a 3/8" shank. Two 4-piece Quad Glass & Tile sets cover the common hardware-hole sizes, one from 3/16" to 3/8" and one from 1/4" to 1/2".
Drilling tips
Glass bits are rotation only, so keep hammer action off. Run at low to medium speed with light pressure, and keep the tip wet with water or cutting fluid so it stays cool and the glass does not chip. Lay the glass flat on a soft pad and ease off as the bit breaks through to keep the exit side clean.

Common questions
Can I use a hammer drill with glass bits?
No. Glass bits are rotation only. Hammer action cracks glass and chips the tip. Use a standard drill, or a rotary hammer switched to drill-only mode.
Do these bits drill tile as well as glass?
The 4-piece sets are sold as Quad Glass & Tile sets, so yes. Use rotation only at low to medium speed, light pressure and a little water. For very hard porcelain, a diamond core bit is the better tool.
What sizes are available?
Single bits come in 3/16", 1/4", 5/16", 3/8", 1/2", 5/8", 3/4" and 1". The 5/8" and 3/4" sizes have a 3/8" shank. There are also two 4-piece sets.
