Hole Saws Carbide Grit
ITM carbide grit hole saws for hard, abrasive material such as ceramic tile, brick and cast iron. Sizes from 3/4" up, including a 6-3/8" recessed lighting saw.
Choosing a carbide grit saw
Carbide grit hole saws have a band of abrasive carbide on the rim instead of teeth. They grind through material that would ruin a toothed saw in a few holes, such as ceramic tile, brick and cast iron. Installers use them for plumbing and electrical penetrations and for recessed lighting.
The range is all ITM, in sizes from 3/4" up to 5" and larger, plus a 6-3/8" Recessed Lighting Hole Saw. Some saws have a hex or 3-flat shank, so check the product page for the fit.
Drilling tips
Run at a slow speed with light, steady pressure and let the grit do the cutting. Forcing the saw burns the edge. On tile, start at a slight angle to notch the glaze, then bring the drill upright, and keep the cut wet if you can. For softer material use a bi-metal saw.

Common questions
What do carbide grit hole saws cut?
Hard, abrasive material such as ceramic tile, brick and cast iron. The grit edge grinds rather than cuts, so it lasts where a toothed saw dulls.
Should I use water?
Wet cutting keeps the edge cooler and extends saw life, especially on tile. Keep the speed slow and let the grit work rather than pushing hard.
Is there a saw for recessed lighting?
Yes. The range includes a 6-3/8" Carbide Grit Recessed Lighting Hole Saw, as well as standard fractional sizes from 3/4" up.
