SDS-Max Core Bits
ITM SDS-Max core bits cut large holes in concrete and masonry with a rotary hammer. Sizes from 2" to 6" in 12" and 22" lengths, with tapered extensions and a threaded pilot drill.
Choosing an SDS-Max core bit
An SDS-Max core bit cuts a ring instead of grinding out the whole hole, so it removes a plug of concrete and takes far less effort than a solid bit of the same diameter. That makes it the usual choice for pipe, conduit, vent and drain penetrations. The range is ITM, in 1-piece SDS-Max core bits from 2" to 6" diameter, with 12" and 22" lengths in the product titles.
Drilling tips
Use a rotary hammer with hammer action on. Start with light pressure so the bit seats, then let it cut at a steady feed. Pull the bit out now and then to clear dust, and expect the core to stay inside the barrel when you finish.
For deeper holes, 8" and 18" SDS-Max tapered extensions are in the range. A 1/2" x 5" threaded pilot drill is also here. For smaller holes, use a solid SDS-Max drill bit.

Common questions
Do these need a rotary hammer?
Yes. They are SDS-Max carbide hammer core bits made for an SDS-Max rotary hammer with the hammer action on. They do not fit a standard drill chuck.
What diameters and lengths are listed?
The 1-piece core bits run from 2" to 6" in diameter, with 12" and 22" lengths in the titles. Check the product page for the exact size and length you need before ordering.
How do I drill deeper than the core bit is long?
Add a tapered extension. The range has 8" and 18" SDS-Max tapered extensions. Longer SDS-Max extensions are in the extensions and adaptors collection.
