Spade Drill Bits Long 16"
Long 16" spade bits from Tru-Cut and ITM for reaching through deeper framing in wood. Diameters from 1/4" to 1-3/8", with several listed for electricians.
Choosing a long spade bit
The long spade bits are the same flat-blade design as the standard bits on a 16" length. They reach through multiple studs, plates or joists without an extension. Diameters run from 1/4" to 1-3/8", and the range includes both Tru-Cut and ITM, with some listed for electricians.
Drilling tips
Seat the centre point at low speed, then run faster with light pressure. On a long bit, keep the drill square to the work, because a bit this long will wander and whip if you lean on it. Pull it back regularly to clear chips, and finish from the far side if you want a clean exit.
Keep these bits out of nails and screws. If you only need to get through one stud or plate, the standard 6" bits are easier to control.

Common questions
How long are these spade bits?
All bits in this collection are 16" long. Diameters run from 1/4" up to 1-3/8".
Why does a long spade bit wander?
A longer bit flexes more. Keep the drill square to the work, use light pressure and start slowly so the centre point seats before you speed up.
Which brands are in the long series?
Tru-Cut and ITM. The two brands cover the same 16" length across most of the same diameters.
