SDS-Max Rebar Cutters
ITM SDS-Max rebar punchers that cut through steel rebar while you drill concrete. Sizes from 5/8" to 1-3/4" in 12" and 21" lengths, for an SDS-Max rotary hammer.
Choosing an SDS-Max rebar puncher
Drill through concrete long enough and you will hit rebar. A rebar puncher is made to cut through the steel instead of stalling or destroying a standard bit. The range is ITM SDS-Max rebar punchers in nine sizes: 5/8", 3/4", 7/8", 1", 1-1/8", 1-1/4", 1-3/8", 1-1/2" and 1-3/4", with 12" and 21" lengths.
Drilling tips
Use an SDS-Max rotary hammer with hammer action on. Keep the bit straight and the feed steady. Cutting steel is slower than cutting concrete, so do not lean on the tool to speed it up. Back out now and then to clear dust and metal and let the tip cool.
Check the drawings or the engineer before you cut structural rebar. A hole that crosses bars can weaken a slab or beam. Choose the puncher diameter for the hole you need and a length that clears the full depth.

Common questions
Do I need a special drill for rebar punchers?
They are SDS-Max and run in an SDS-Max rotary hammer with hammer action on, like any SDS-Max bit. Smaller jobs can use the SDS-Plus rebar cutters with an SDS-Plus hammer.
What sizes and lengths are available?
Sizes run from 5/8" to 1-3/4" (nine sizes). The titles show 12" and 21" lengths.
Is it safe to cut structural rebar?
Not without checking. Cutting a bar can weaken a slab, beam or column. Have the engineer or drawings confirm where you can drill before you use a puncher.
