Cut-Off Wheels
Walter COMBO ZIP cut and deburr wheels, Type 27, 5/64" thick, in 4-1/2", 5" and 6" for angle grinders. Stainless safe.
Choosing a cut-off wheel
These are Walter COMBO ZIP wheels, thin Type 27 aluminum oxide wheels made to cut and deburr in one tool. At 5/64" thick they remove little material, so cuts go quickly and stay clean. Each has a 7/8" arbor hole and is listed as stainless safe, which makes them a good fit for electricians cutting conduit, strut and threaded rod.
Using a cut-off wheel
Pick the size your grinder and guard are rated for: 4-1/2", 5" or 6". Let the wheel cut along the line without twisting or leaning, because a pinched thin wheel can break. Clamp the work, keep the guard in place and stay out of the wheel plane.
Do not use a cutting wheel for side grinding. When the cut is done and the edge needs blending, switch to a flap disc.

Common questions
Is this safe on stainless steel?
Yes, the COMBO ZIP wheels are listed as stainless safe, so they suit stainless as well as mild steel.
Can I use it for grinding?
They are sold as cut and deburr wheels, so cut with them and clean up the edge. For heavy stock removal use a grinding wheel, and never load a thin wheel from the side.
What arbor and thickness do they have?
All three sizes, 4-1/2", 5" and 6", are 5/64" thick with a 7/8" arbor hole and are Type 27.
