Hole Saws Carbide Tipped
ITM carbide tipped hole saws for tough cutting where a bi-metal edge wears out fast. Sizes from 1-3/8" to 5-3/4" and up, in fractions with the millimetre size in each title.
Choosing a carbide tipped saw
Carbide tipped hole saws have carbide teeth on the rim. Carbide holds an edge far longer than bi-metal in hard or abrasive cutting, such as stainless steel, so these saws earn their keep on the jobs that chew through other saws.
This range is all ITM. Sizes start at 1-3/8" and run through 1-5/8", 2-1/16", 3", 3-7/8" and 5-3/4", with the millimetre size in every title. They suit plumbers, electricians and HVAC techs who make many large holes a day.
Drilling tips
Run at a lower speed than you would with bi-metal, and use cutting oil on metal. Keep the feed steady. Carbide is hard but brittle, so avoid side pressure and do not let the saw bind or chatter. Clear the slug regularly and keep the drill square. For lighter work the bi-metal range is enough.

Common questions
When should I choose carbide tipped over bi-metal?
When the job is hard on the saw, such as stainless steel or many holes in a day. Carbide holds its edge longer. For wood, plastic and thin metal, bi-metal is enough.
What speed should I run?
Slower than bi-metal. Use a low speed with steady pressure and cutting oil on metal. High speed overheats the carbide and shortens saw life.
Are these sized in inches or metric?
Inches, with the millimetre size listed in each title, for example 2-1/4" (57.2 mm).
