Spade Drill Bits Standard 6"
Standard 6" spade bits from Tru-Cut and ITM for quick holes in wood. Diameters from 1/4" to 1-1/2", with many listed for electricians. Some listings are Wood Twister drills.
Choosing a standard spade bit
The standard spade bits are the everyday size: 6" long, flat blade, centre point. Most are 6" and a few run 6-1/2". Diameters run from 1/4" to 1-1/2", from both Tru-Cut and ITM, and many are listed under Electricians. A few listings are Wood Twister drills, which are sold alongside the spade bits.
Drilling tips
Start slowly so the centre point seats, then run faster with light, steady pressure. Leaning on a spade bit makes it grab and splinter. Drill until the point just comes through, then finish from the other side, or hold a scrap block behind the work for a cleaner exit.
These cut wood, so keep them away from nails and screws. For holes deeper than 6", see the long 16" bits.
