Walter ALLSTEEL TURBO flap discs in 40, 60 and 80 grit, 4-1/2", 5" and 6", Type 27 and 27S. Zirconia alumina, listed as stainless safe.
Choosing a flap disc
A flap disc grinds and blends in one step, which is why fabricators and electricians keep a few in the truck. These are Walter ALLSTEEL TURBO discs with a zirconia alumina grain, listed as stainless safe, for angle grinders.
Grit, type and size
Grit sets the job: 40 removes material fast, 60 is the all-round choice, and 80 blends and finishes. Type 27 discs here have a 7/8" arbor hole. The Type 27S discs are 5/8"-11 threaded, so they screw straight onto grinders with that spindle.
Hold the disc at a low angle, around 10 to 15°, and keep it moving. Pressing harder just heats the work. Stay under the maximum speed printed on the disc, keep the guard on, and wear eye protection. To cut first, pair it with a cut-off wheel.

Common questions
What is the difference between Type 27 and 27S?
In this range the Type 27 discs have a 7/8" arbor hole, and the Type 27S discs are 5/8"-11 threaded for grinders with a threaded spindle. Check your grinder before ordering.
Can I use them on stainless?
Yes. All of the ALLSTEEL TURBO discs are listed as stainless safe.
Which grit should I start with?
Use 40 for heavy removal, 60 for general work and 80 for finishing. If unsure, buy 60 and go coarser or finer from there.
