Foundation Repair: Cutting Pier Pipe
Blades and wheels for cutting push pier pipe and helical shaft to length: steel-cutting circular saw blades 5-3/8" to 14", portable band saw blades and Walter COMBO ZIP cut-and-deburr wheels.
Cutting pier pipe to length
Every pier ends with a cut. Residential piers use 2-7/8" or 3-1/2" OD steel pipe and helical shaft, and crews cut it with an abrasive chop saw, a dry-cut saw, a deep-cut portable band saw or a grinder.
- Metal-cutting circular saw blades for steel from 5-3/8" to 14", including the 14" x 66T for dry-cut chop saws.
- Portable band saw blades, 44-7/8" deep-cut and compact sizes, in 3-packs.
- Walter chop-saw wheels, 12" to 16" on a 1" arbor: ALLSTEEL, CHOPCUT, CHOPCUT II and CHOPCUT TITAN, sold by the box.
- Walter cut-off wheels for grinders, 4-1/2" to 9": ALLSTEEL and TOUGHCUT in Type 1 and Type 27.
- Walter PIPEFITTER wheels for notching and bevelling pipe.
- Walter COMBO ZIP cut-and-deburr wheels cut the pipe and knock the burr off with the same wheel.
Match the blade to the saw's arbor and rpm, clamp the pipe, and let the blade cut at its own pace. Deburr the end before it goes in the bracket.
