Choosing a masonry drill

Masonry drills cut holes for anchors, conduit and pipe in brick, block and concrete. This collection brings together 148 drills from ITM and Tru-Cut in four families, so you can pick by the job rather than by brand.

Drilling tips

Use hammer action in brick, block and concrete, and switch it off for the multi-purpose bits. Start slowly so the tip seats, then run steady pressure and let the drill do the work. Pull the bit out now and then to clear dust, especially in deep holes. An overheated tip loses its edge, so stop and let it cool rather than leaning harder.

Common questions

What does fast spiral mean on a masonry drill?

A faster twist in the flutes carries dust out of the hole more quickly, which helps in deep holes. The Tru-Cut Cyclo Twist drills are fast-spiral. ITM's Slow Spiral is the standard masonry drill.

Hammer drill or rotation only?

It depends on the family. The HD Roto Hammer drills are made for hammer drills, and masonry drills are normally run with hammer action in brick, block and concrete. The ITM multi-purpose bits are rotation only.

Can I buy these in packs?

Mostly they are sold singly. Selected sizes in the ITM Slow Spiral and HD Roto Hammer lines are also listed as packs of 25. The Cyclo Twist drills are sold as single bits.
