Core Drills
ITM core drills in three families: diamond bits for tile and stone, carbide hammer bits for masonry, and large diamond bits for concrete. Fifty-six items from 1/4" tile bits to 12" concrete barrels.
Choosing a core drill
Core drills cut a clean round hole by removing a plug instead of grinding away all the material. The ITM range splits three ways. Diamond tile and stone bits handle tile, porcelain and stone, and many are used on shower door work. Carbide hammer core drills are built for brick, block and concrete. Large diamond bits cut concrete, from 1" to 12" in diameter.
Hammer or rotation
The bits differ. Carbide core drills are hammer-style and are made for a hammer drill or rotary hammer, including SDS-Max. Diamond bits grind rather than chip, so run them in rotation only, never with hammer action. Keep diamond bits cool with water. The range also includes pilot drills, SDS-Max tapered extensions and an ejector key, so check the shank and thread on the bit against your drill or rig.

Common questions
What is the difference between carbide and diamond core drills?
Carbide core drills are hammer-style for brick, block and concrete. Diamond core drills grind through tile, stone and concrete and run in rotation with water. Pick by the material you are cutting.
Can I use hammer mode with a diamond core drill?
No. Diamond bits should run in rotation only. Hammer action damages them. Only the carbide hammer core drills are made for hammer drills.
What are the extensions and ejector key for?
They are accessories in the carbide section. SDS-Max tapered extensions add reach, pilot drills centre the start of the cut, and the ejector key helps remove the bit from its holder.
