Masonry Drills Multi-Purpose
ITM carbide-tipped multi-purpose bits from 1/8" to 5/8", in lengths from 2-1/2" to 12". Listed to ANSI specification and rotation only. One bit for mixed materials on electrical jobs.
Choosing a multi-purpose bit
These ITM multi-purpose bits carry a carbide tip and are listed to ANSI specification. Electricians reach for them when one job crosses brick, block, tile and softer materials and there is no time to swap bit types. The range has 15 items, from 1/8" to 5/8" in lengths from 2-1/2" to 12", plus a 5-piece set from 1/8" to 3/8".
Drilling tips
These bits are rotation only. Switch hammer action off, since hammering can chip the carbide tip. Run medium speed with light, steady pressure, and back the bit out to clear dust in deeper holes. Forcing the bit makes heat and dulls the tip.
When the job calls for hammering into concrete, use a rotary hammer bit instead.

Common questions
Can I use these in hammer mode?
No. They are rotation only, so switch hammer action off. Hammer mode can chip the carbide tip. For hammering into concrete, choose a rotary hammer bit.
What sizes and lengths are available?
Diameters run from 1/8" to 5/8" and lengths from 2-1/2" to 12". There is also a 5-piece set covering 1/8" to 3/8".
Why a carbide tip?
Carbide stays sharp in abrasive material such as brick, block and tile, where a plain steel tip dulls quickly.
