Choosing a metal recip blade

Metal recip blades are what plumbers, HVAC crews and fabricators burn through cutting pipe, angle, strut and sheet. This collection is 42 ITM blades, all with a 1/2" universal shank.

Lengths run 4", 6", 8", 9", 10" and 12", with 6" the biggest group at 14 blades. Tooth counts include 10T, 14T, 18T and 24T. The Heavy-Metal Recips are the heavier-duty version of the standard Metal Recips. Both come in 5 packs and 50 packs.

Choosing teeth

Match the teeth to the thickness. Use more teeth per inch, such as 18T or 24T, on thin sheet and tube, and fewer, such as 10T or 14T, on thick pipe and solid sections. At least a few teeth should be in the cut at all times, or the blade will snag.

Clamp the work, keep the shoe tight against it and use cutting lubricant on thicker steel. Stuck on hard alloys? See the carbide blades.

Common questions

What is the difference between Metal and Heavy-Metal recips?

Both cut metal. Heavy-Metal is the heavier-duty version of the standard blade, so it suits tougher, thicker cutting. The product title shows which one you are looking at.

How do I pick the tooth count?

Use more teeth per inch, like 18T or 24T, for thin sheet and tube. Use fewer, like 10T or 14T, for thick pipe or solid sections.

What pack sizes are there?

5 packs and 50 packs. The count is in the product title. All 42 blades have a 1/2" universal shank.
