Choosing a spear point glass bit
Spear point glass bits from Tru-Cut come in seven sizes: 1/8", 5/32", 3/16", 1/4", 5/16", 3/8" and 1/2". That covers most small and mid-size holes for mirrors, glass panels and shower door hardware.
Drilling tips
Use rotation only and keep hammer action off. Run at low to medium speed with light pressure. Keep the tip wet with water or cutting fluid, because heat is what kills a glass bit and cracks glass. Rest the glass flat on a soft pad and ease off as the bit breaks through.
Start the hole squarely. Some installers tape the spot or use a small guide to keep the tip from skating on the surface. Drill glass before it is tempered, as tempered glass shatters.

No. Glass bits are rotation only. Hammer action cracks glass. Use a standard drill, or switch a rotary hammer to drill-only mode.
What sizes do spear point glass bits come in?
Seven sizes: 1/8", 5/32", 3/16", 1/4", 5/16", 3/8" and 1/2".
Do these work for shower door installs?
They are listed under Shower Doors. Pick the size that matches the hinge, clamp or bracket hardware, drill slowly with water, and drill before the glass is tempered.
