SDS-Max Chisels
ITM SDS-Max chisels for a rotary hammer in chisel mode: flat, scaling and bull point chisels, floor scraper, bushing and seam tools, and a ground rod driver. Used for demolition, surface prep and driving ground rods.
Choosing an SDS-Max chisel
SDS-Max chisels are the heavy end of hammer-driven demolition and surface work. The range is all ITM and covers flat chisels, scaling chisels, bull points, a floor scraper, carbide bushing tools, a seam tool and a ground rod driver. Lengths run from about 10" to 25", with bull points at 18" and 24".
Using them
Put the rotary hammer in chisel or hammer-only mode before you start. Rotation twists the tool in the chuck and wears the shank. Let the weight of the hammer do the work and hold a steady angle instead of levering on the chisel. A chisel that has mushroomed or lost its edge should be replaced, not forced.
Flat chisels trim edges and cut clean lines. Scaling chisels are wider and suit scraping off set material such as thinset or mortar. Bull points break up concrete. Bushing tools texture a concrete surface. For lighter work, see SDS-Plus chisels.

Common questions
Can I use these in a regular drill?
No. SDS-Max chisels are made for an SDS-Max rotary hammer. Use the hammer-only or chisel setting, never rotation, or the tool will spin in the chuck.
What is the difference between a flat chisel and a scaling chisel?
A flat chisel is for trimming and cutting clean edges. A scaling chisel is wider and suits scraping and removing material off a surface. Both are listed here in several widths and lengths.
Do you have a lighter chisel for smaller hammers?
Yes. The SDS-Plus chisel collection has flat, scaling, gouge and tile chisels, bull points and MINI floor scrapers for lighter SDS-Plus rotary hammers.
