Bit Tips Square
ITM square-drive (Robertson) bit tips from #0 to #3, from 1" insert bits to power bits up to 6" long. Twenty-five bits, mostly on a 1/4" hex impact shank.
Choosing a square-drive bit
Square-drive screws, also called Robertson, are popular for deck and construction screws because the bit grips the head and stays put. The range is 25 ITM bits: #1, #2 and #3 in eight bits each, plus a #0. Short 1" insert bits cover tight spots. Power bits run 2", 2-3/4", 3", 3-1/2", 4", 5" and 6" for deep or recessed work. Twenty-one are on a 1/4" hex impact shank; four are on a plain 1/4" hex shank.
Driving tips
Match the number to the screw. A #2 bit in a #3 screw rocks and wears both parts. Push the bit all the way into the square socket before you pull the trigger. The grip holds the screw on the bit, so you can drive one-handed, but keep the driver straight. Long bits can whip at high speed, so start slow and let the screw take hold.

Common questions
Is square drive the same as Robertson?
Yes, in practice. Square-drive and Robertson screws use the same square socket. Choose the bit by number: #1, #2 or #3 here, plus one #0.
Can I use these in an impact driver?
Most can. Twenty-one of the 25 are on a 1/4" hex impact shank. The other four are on a plain 1/4" hex shank and suit a drill/driver.
What is the difference between insert and power bits?
Insert bits are short, 1" long, and sit in a bit holder. Power bits are longer, from 2" up to 6" in this range, and reach into recessed screws or work at a distance.
