Band Saw Blades
ITM 1/2" bi-metal blades for portable band saws, made in USA with 8% cobalt. Sold in packs of 3, in several lengths and tooth counts from 10 to 18 TPI.
Choosing a portable band saw blade
Portable band saws are the go-to for cutting conduit, pipe, strut, threaded rod and angle on site, which is why electricians, plumbers, HVAC crews and fabricators keep spare blades in the truck. These ITM blades are 1/2" bi-metal with 8% cobalt, made in USA, and each pack holds three.
Picking and using a blade
Start with length. Match it to your saw; the number is in the manual or on the blade you are replacing. Then choose tooth count. Coarser blades (10/14 and 14 TPI) clear chips from thicker stock. Finer blades (18 TPI) suit thin-wall tube and conduit. The 14/18 blades are variable pitch, a good all-round choice when the jobs vary.
A rule of thumb: keep at least three teeth in the cut at all times. Let the blade set the pace with light, steady pressure, and use cutting oil on steel. When you fit a new blade, start a fresh cut rather than forcing it into the old kerf.
