Choosing a glass or stone bit

Glass and stone are hard, brittle and easy to crack, so the right bit matters more than speed. This range groups four kinds of tool: V-Groove and multi-purpose carbide bits for tile and mixed materials, rotary hammer bits for concrete, brick and block, glass bits, and diamond core drills for hard porcelain and large holes.

Rotation or hammer

It depends on the bit. ITM V-Groove tile bits and all glass bits are rotation only. Hammer action cracks tile and glass. Relton Groo-V® masonry drills and the HD Roto Hammer bits are made for hammer drills and suit brick, block and concrete.

On tile and glass, run at low to medium speed with light pressure and a little water on the tip. Installing shower doors? The Shower Doors collection pulls the usual bits together.

Common questions

A V-Groove carbide bit for most anchor holes, run in rotation only with light pressure and water. For very hard rectified porcelain or large holes, step up to a diamond core drill.

Only with the right bit. V-Groove tile bits and glass bits are rotation only. Relton Groo-V® masonry drills and HD Roto Hammer bits are made for hammer drills in brick, block and concrete.

Do you have bits for glass as well as stone?

Yes. Glass bits come in Quad Spear, ITM RAZOR and Tru-Cut spear point styles. All are rotation only. Drill slowly with water, and drill glass before it is tempered.
