Bellhanger & Flex Drills Flex Auger Bits
Tru-Cut flexible ship auger bits in HSS, 3/8" to 1" in diameter and 36", 54" or 72" long, for drilling through walls and ceilings from an opening.
Choosing a flex auger bit
A flex auger bends with the drill so you can reach through finished walls, floors and ceilings from one access point to the next. This collection has 12 Tru-Cut bits in high speed steel with a flexi shank and a ship auger style. Diameters run 3/8", 1/2", 5/8", 3/4" and 1", and lengths are 36", 54" and 72". Five of them are also tagged for electricians.
Drilling tips
Auger flutes carry chips out of a deep hole, so pull the bit back every so often to clear them and keep it cool. Use moderate speed with steady, light pressure, and start square to the surface because a flex bit follows the line you give it. Choose a hole large enough for your cable or bundle to pull through without scraping.
For a smaller diameter with a screw point, see the ITM flex bits.

Common questions
What is a ship auger flex bit?
It is a flexible bit with an auger style fluted body that carries chips out of long holes. The flexi shank lets it bend as it drills through a wall or ceiling from an opening.
What sizes and lengths are available?
Diameters of 3/8", 1/2", 5/8", 3/4" and 1", in lengths of 36", 54" and 72". Not every diameter comes in every length, so check the title.
How big a hole do I need?
Choose a diameter that lets your cable or bundle pull through without rubbing. The range here goes up to 1" for larger bundles.
