Choosing a tile drill bit
This is the full range for drilling tile and stone, from ITM and Relton. There are four families: V-Groove and Groo-V® carbide bits, diamond core and segment bits, multi-purpose carbide bits and diamond countersinks. Most of it is tagged for shower door installers, and many V-Groove and Groo-V® bits are sold in 25-packs.
Match the bit to the job. V-Groove and multi-purpose carbide bits handle anchor holes in glazed tile. For larger holes or very hard material, step up to diamond core bits, which grind rather than cut.
Drilling tips
ITM V-Groove tile bits, multi-purpose bits and all diamond bits are rotation only. Relton Groo-V® masonry drills are made for hammer drills in brick and block, but use rotation on tile. Keep a drop of water on the bit, apply light pressure, and ease off as it breaks through.

Common questions
Can I use these bits in a hammer drill?
Not on tile. ITM V-Groove, multi-purpose and diamond bits are rotation only, and hammer action cracks tile. Relton Groo-V® masonry drills are made for hammer drills in brick and block. Use rotation on tile.
Should I use a V-Groove bit or a diamond core bit?
V-Groove carbide bits suit anchor holes in glazed tile. Diamond core and segment bits suit larger holes and very hard material, because they grind rather than cut and run cool with water.
Do these come in boxes or singly?
Both. Many V-Groove and Groo-V® bits come in 25-packs. Larger sizes, such as the 5/8" and 11/16" Groo-V® masonry drills, are sold singly. Each product page shows the quantity.
