Bit Tips Phillips
ITM Phillips bit tips from #0 to #4 in lengths from 1" to 5", on 1/4" hex shanks with impact-shank options. Everyday drivers for electricians, shower door installers and general fastening.
Choosing a Phillips driver bit
Phillips is still the screw head most trades see every day, so these are the bits that get worn out first. The range is ITM, 45 bits from #0 to #4, with #2 the most common size and #1 and #3 close behind. Lengths run from 1" inserts up to 5" power bits for reaching into recessed holes. Most are on a 1/4" hex impact shank; some are plain 1/4" hex, and three are on a 5/16" hex shank.
Driving tips
Use the size that matches the screw. A #2 bit in a #3 screw cams out and chews the head. Push firmly and keep the bit in line with the screw, especially with the longer bits. The range includes Blue-Shock impact bits and Phillips drywall bits, so pick the one built for your driver and fastener. Replace a bit as soon as the tip rounds off, since a worn bit strips screws.

Common questions
Which Phillips size do I need?
Most screws take a #2. Small screws take a #1, and larger construction screws take a #3. The bit should seat fully in the head with very little wobble. If it rocks, go up or down a size.
Can I use a Phillips bit on Pozidriv screws?
It will turn, but it fits poorly and cams out easily, which strips the head. Use a Pozidriv bit on Pozidriv screws. ITM Pozidriv bits are in their own collection.
Are these bits OK for an impact driver?
Most of the range, 28 of 45, is on a 1/4" hex impact shank, including the Blue-Shock impact bits. The plain 1/4" hex and 5/16" hex bits are better suited to a drill/driver or screw gun.
