Bit Tips Slotted
ITM slotted (flat) bit tips sized by screw gauge from #4-5 up to #10-12, in lengths from 1" to 3-1/2". Ten bits, with impact-shank and standard 1/4" hex options.
Choosing a slotted driver bit
Slotted bits turn the older single-slot screws still found on electrical devices, hardware and existing installs. Slotted bits are sized by the range of screw gauges they fit, so the listings read #4-5, #6-8, #8-10 and #10-12. The range is ten ITM bits. Most are 1" or 2" long, and #8-10 also comes in 3" and 3-1/2" for reaching. Six are on a 1/4" hex impact shank and four are on a plain 1/4" hex shank.
Driving tips
Pick a bit that fills the slot. A tip that is too narrow twists the slot out, and one that is too wide marks the surrounding material. Slotted bits slide out of the slot more easily than other drives, so keep the driver square and lean in with steady pressure. Start the screw slowly, and avoid high torque with a bit that has started to wear or round at the tip.

Common questions
What do sizes like #8-10 mean?
A slotted bit fits a range of screw gauges. A #8-10 bit suits #8 and #10 screws. Choose the bit whose tip fills the slot width rather than going by the screw diameter alone.
Can I use slotted bits in an impact driver?
Six of the ten are on a 1/4" hex impact shank. The other four are on a standard 1/4" hex shank, better suited to a drill/driver or screw gun.
Which lengths are available?
1" and 2" bits in the smaller gauges, and #8-10 also in 3" and 3-1/2" power bits. The short ones are inserts; the longer ones are power bits for reach.
