End Mills for Aluminium
Titan end mills for cutting aluminum, in 2- and 3-flute styles with square ends or corner radii. A wide spread of diameters and lengths for machine shops and fabricators.
Choosing an aluminum end mill
These Titan end mills are made for aluminum. The range has 103 items, split between square-end mills (54) and corner-radius mills (49). Flute counts are 2 or 3, and the square-end titles list carbide construction. Each title gives cutting diameter, length of cut and overall length in that order, so a 3/8" x 1" x 2-1/2" mill cuts 3/8" wide, 1" deep and measures 2-1/2" overall.
Milling tips
Aluminum is gummy. Run it fast, take a clean chip and keep the flutes clear, because packed chips weld to the cutter and ruin it. Use flood coolant, mist or a cutting lubricant. Two and three flutes leave more room for chips than the 4- and 5-flute mills made for steel.
A corner radius (.010r, .020r and .040r appear in this range) strengthens the corner of the cutter and leaves a small radius at the bottom of a pocket. A square end gives a sharp inside corner and a flat floor.

Common questions
Square end or corner radius?
Choose square end when the part needs a sharp inside corner or a flat-bottomed slot. Choose corner radius when you want a tougher cutter corner and can live with a small radius in the pocket.
What do the three sizes in a title mean?
They are cutting diameter, length of cut and overall length. A 3/8" x 1" x 2-1/2" 2-flute mill cuts 3/8" wide and 1" deep, and is 2-1/2" long. A trailing .020r means a 0.020" corner radius.
Why only 2 and 3 flutes?
Aluminum makes long, soft chips that need space to escape. Fewer flutes give deeper chip pockets, which keeps chips from packing and welding onto the cutter.
