Foundation Repair: Wall Anchors & Coring
Long SDS-Max bits and core bits for holes through a basement wall or slab: X-Cutter bits at 36" and 52" overall, tunnel drills to 39", and core bits from 1" to 12".
Long bits and core bits
A wall anchor needs a hole all the way through the basement wall, often around 1-1/8" and drilled at a slight downward angle, and some helical wall anchors need a 3" hole. Interior slab piers and sump discharge lines start with a core through the slab.
- X-Cutter SDS-Max bits from 5/8" to 1-3/4" at 36" overall, and 5/8" to 1-1/2" at 52" overall.
- SDS-Max tunnel drills 1-1/2" to 3-1/8", 22" and 39" long.
- SDS-Max core bits 2" to 6" with pilot drills, plus carbide modular core bits 1-1/2" to 5" with SDS-Max extensions.
- Diamond core drills 1" to 12" x 15-3/4" for core rigs.
Start a long bit straight with light pressure before you set the angle, and pull it back often to clear the flutes. Check your anchor system's hole size before you order. Cutting, coring and grinding concrete releases respirable crystalline silica, and a basement holds it in. Cut wet where you can, or run a shroud on a HEPA-filtered extractor, and follow your company's exposure control plan.
