Data Centers: Slab, Rebar & Demo
Saw cutting, dowel holes that hit steel, and chipping pads and curbs: 14" and 4" to 7" diamond wheels, rebar cutters and punchers, SDS-Max and SDS-Plus bull points, chisels and ground rod drivers.
Slab cutting, rebar and demo
Equipment pads, trenches, control joints and the odd re-cut all run through this step, along with the rebar that a reinforced slab puts in the way of every dowel and anchor hole.
- 14" diamond wheels for cut-off saws: general use, heavy duty, multi-material and a demolition wheel.
- 4" to 7" segmented and turbo wheels for grinders and circular saws, singles and 10-packs.
- Rebar cutters in straight shank and SDS-Plus from 3/8" to 2-1/2", and rebar punchers in SDS-Plus 3/8" to 1-1/4" and SDS-Max 5/8" to 1-3/4".
- SDS-Max bull points 12" to 24", flat, scaling and angled chisels, bushing tools, a clay spade and a floor scraper, plus the SDS-Plus set for a smaller hammer.
- Ground rod drivers in SDS-Plus (5/8") and SDS-Max (7/8") for the grounding grid.
Run a rebar cutter in rotation only, hammer off, and only on the steel, then go back to the masonry bit. A rebar puncher runs in rotary hammer mode and is the faster pick on #5 bar and under. Let a diamond wheel cut at its own pace; a wheel that stops cutting has glazed and a few passes through a block will open it up. Drilling, coring and cutting concrete releases respirable crystalline silica. Run a shroud on a HEPA-filtered extractor or cut wet where the job allows, and follow your company's exposure control plan.

Common questions
Cutter or puncher when we hit rebar?
A rebar cutter runs in rotation only and handles heavy bar; a rebar puncher runs in rotary hammer mode, cuts about twice as fast and is best on #5 (5/8") bar and under. Crews that hit steel all day usually keep both.
Do you carry 20" and larger walk-behind saw blades?
Not today. The 14" wheels here fit handheld cut-off saws; call us for larger walk-behind blades and we will quote them.
Which chisel for chipping a curb or pad flush?
A scaling chisel 1-1/2" to 3" wide for the face, a bull point to break out the bulk, and a bushing tool to rough the surface flat. All are SDS-Max; the SDS-Plus versions suit lighter work.
