Foundation Repair: Anchors & Brackets
SDS-Plus and SDS-Max carbide bits for bracket anchors, slab brackets and foam lifting holes, from 5/32" to 1-1/4" in SDS-Plus, plus stop bits that drill to the exact depth for drop-in anchors.
Bits for anchor holes
Each pier bracket takes two to four anchors into the footing, usually 1/2" or 5/8". This step holds the bits for those holes and for the long run of repeat holes in foam lifting and mudjacking.
- ITM eVolution X-Cutter SDS-Plus bits have a 4-cutter carbide head that keeps drilling round when it clips rebar, 5/32" to 1-1/4".
- ITM BOHR and Redline SDS-Plus bits cover the everyday sizes, with bulk tubes for crews that burn through them.
- X-Cutter SDS-Max bits from 3/8" to 2" at 13", 17", 21" and 23" overall for bigger anchors in a larger hammer.
- Stop bits drill the right diameter and depth for drop-in anchors from 3/16" to 3/4", and the nail-in anchor driver and SDS-Max to SDS-Plus adapter round it out.
Blow or vacuum the hole clean before setting an anchor; dust left in the hole costs holding power. Cutting, coring and grinding concrete releases respirable crystalline silica, and a basement holds it in. Cut wet where you can, or run a shroud on a HEPA-filtered extractor, and follow your company's exposure control plan.
