Cutting holes in sheet metal
Once the structure is done, the finishing work needs clean round holes: grommet holes for harnesses, mounts for antennas, trim clips and cables. This step holds the tools for cutting and enlarging them in sheet metal.
- ITM bi-metal variable-pitch hole saws from 9/16" to 3" (including metric sizes such as 45 mm, 55 mm and 68.5 mm), with hole saw arbors and extensions.
- Car and construction reamers from 3/8" to over 1", hex and round shank, for enlarging a punched or drilled hole to size.
- Step drills in 1/4" and 3/8" hex shanks, which cut a clean round hole in thin sheet in one pass.
Cut it once, in the right place
Positions for holes near sensors, cameras and radar come from the vehicle maker's repair procedure, not from a tool catalog, so check it before you cut. Mark the center, drill a pilot, run the saw at low speed with cutting oil, and deburr the edge so a grommet seats and the wiring is protected.

What size hole saw for a wiring harness grommet?
Check the grommet's listed hole size and use that saw. The saw diameter is in each product title, in inches and millimeters.
Reamer or step drill for enlarging a hole?
A step drill cuts clean round holes in thin sheet and shows the size by step. A car reamer opens up an existing hole and is good for sizing it to fit a part.
Can I drill near a radar or camera bracket?
Only as the vehicle maker's repair procedure allows. Positions and clear zones come from the maker, not from a tool supplier.
