A harder carbide grade for the material that kills ordinary burrs: hardened and heat-treated steel, high-nickel alloys, work-hardened stainless and anything in the 45–60 Rc range. The trade-off is that a harder grade is also more brittle, so these want a rigid setup, a steady feed and no side loading — run them straight into the work rather than levering sideways. This is the SC-5: a 1/2" cylindrical ball nose head with a 1" length of cut on a 1/4" shank. Surface milling and contour work.
