Foundation & Basement Repair
Bits, chisels, core bits, diamond wheels, saw blades and grinding wheels for pier, wall anchor and basement waterproofing crews, sorted by job step. SDS-Plus and SDS-Max tooling fits any rotary hammer with that chuck.
Foundation repair tools, step by step
Foundation repair wears out cutting tools fast. This page groups what a pier, wall anchor or drain tile crew goes through by the step of the job, from chipping the footing to prepping the wall for carbon fiber straps. Every SDS-Plus and SDS-Max bit and chisel here fits any SDS-Plus or SDS-Max rotary hammer, whatever brand your crew runs.

Dust and safety
Cutting, coring and grinding concrete releases respirable crystalline silica, and a basement holds it in. Cut wet where you can, or run a shroud on a HEPA-filtered extractor, and follow your company's exposure control plan. Old black cutback mastic can contain asbestos, so have it tested before you grind it.

Common questions
Will these bits fit the rotary hammers we already own?
Yes, if the hammer takes SDS-Plus or SDS-Max. The shank is the standard, not the brand, so any SDS-Plus bit fits any SDS-Plus hammer and the same goes for SDS-Max. Large breakers with their own shank are a different fit, so call us with the model.
What bit do we need for a wall anchor hole?
Check your anchor system's spec first. For the common 1-1/8" hole we carry X-Cutter SDS-Max bits at 17", 23" and 36" overall, and 1-1/4" runs out to 52".
How do we keep silica dust down in a basement?
Cut and core wet where you can, or use a shroud connected to a HEPA-filtered extractor, and follow your company's exposure control plan. Grinding with a cup wheel makes the most dust, so plan that step first.
