Foundation Repair: Strap Prep & Finishing
Diamond and PCD cup wheels for grinding walls to bare concrete before carbon fiber straps and for stripping coatings, plus Walter grinding wheels and flap discs for cut pipe and brackets.
Grinding for straps and steel
Carbon fiber straps and wall braces bond only to clean, bare concrete, so the strap path gets ground first. Cut pipe and brackets get deburred before they go in the ground or get touched up.
- ITM diamond grinding cup wheels, 5" and 7", for grinding walls to aggregate.
- ITM PCD cup wheels for stripping paint, glue, epoxy, mastic and other coatings.
- Walter HP XX grinding wheels 4-1/2" to 9" and ALLSTEEL TURBO flap discs in 40, 60 and 80 grit for burrs and weld cleanup on steel.
- Walter wire cup brushes, crimped and knot-twisted, threaded and shank-mounted, for rust, scale and slag.
Keep the cup wheel flat and moving. Cutting, coring and grinding concrete releases respirable crystalline silica, and a basement holds it in. Cut wet where you can, or run a shroud on a HEPA-filtered extractor, and follow your company's exposure control plan. Old black cutback mastic can contain asbestos, so test it before you grind.
